Fulci somehow pulled it off. The madman crafted a sequence that offers a pair of great boobs, nautical underwater adventure, a shark VS. zombie showdown, and a spacey Fabio Frizzi soundtrack. Clearly the peak of filmmaking as we know it.
I enjoy this film quite a bit. There’s a meditative quality to it that makes it both relaxing and confrontational. It lacks the relentlessness of Badlands, but that’s not the focus of the film. The Ennio Morricone score is good but nowhere near his best. Days of Heaven also has some of the best cinematography you will ever see, and it will most likely never be replicated.
