Beautifully horrific; deeply disturbing. Brought me to places I didn't want to go. And some that I never wanted to leave. Hats off to Joaquin
Makes me miss my queer friend Quentin!
Wtf is he doing these days and WHY don't I see my high school friends any more
It's fine I'm not mad .
Artist life really be like that. You make a painting of someone and then they rob your house and beat you up, or in my case
Reject it and reject you after years of friendship and then die in a freak accident before you could ever make up! Isn't life funny
Sylvia Plath's words sing specifically to the tune of this movie. First in "Insomniac":
"The night sky is only a sort of carbon paper,
Blueblack, with the much-poked periods of stars
Letting in the light, peephole after peephole --
A bonewhite light, like death, behind all things."
Then again in "Event":
"The moonlight, that chalk cliff
In whose rift we lie
Back to back. I hear an owl cry
From its cold indigo."
I watched this with my dad because…
It says a lot that I would choose to rewatch this, even though I've seen it before and we've gotten new flicks at the theater. Okay, yes, a lot of it was for Brad Pitt and yes, I've been sucked into his handsome trap.
But this movie has LAYERS and it might take a bit before they all set in.
