American Psycho

American Psycho

This is a comedy above all else. A satirization, a cynical examination of the the wealthy, straight, white American man.

I watched this at an embarrassingly young age, either 12 or 13, too young to really appreciate what the film meant. All I remember it being is grotesquely violent. I was always afraid of rewatching it because of how much it shocked me. But what was worse than feeling that same shock was feeling amused by it all, finding it funny only six years after thinking it was horrifying.

What I found is that it doesn't work without a sense of humor, it didn't work for me then, but it does for me now.
