This film is an instant classic. One of Joon-Ho Bong's finest.

It mixes and blends different elements and genres that reminds me quite a bit of Bunel's work and his stuff on upper-class satire but whereas Bunel's stuff turns into more humourous mockery this turns dark and sour quick.

I had such high expectations and was always a huge fan on Bong's work in the thriller genre, "Mother" and "Memories of Murder" are his best works and happily can add this as well to the list, this exceeded all expectations and definitely one of the best films of this year without a doubt.

Just curious what the budget was just for the first 20 minutes.

The first half was alright, but its gets repetitive quick. some of the ''nightmare'' scenes end up being humourous than actually anything remotely terrifying. Bill Hader was easily the highlight from the cast. It's an okay entertaining film that while its almost three hours it doesn't drag.

It has its moments with some compelling visuals and a really good soundtrack but the film really drags in the 2nd half and kinda lose all its momentum.
