Starts out so confidently and assuredly, and has some weighty ideas to bounce around, but man does it sag at the end. In between, Age of Ultron does some thankless character and long term plot work that made the next half dozen movies possible—including Infinity War.
Having seen three Avengers movies in the past week, it’s clearer than ever to me that the MCU is best understood as a TV series. As such, this is a solid, crucial episode that lays the groundwork for the back half of the season.
