Paired this with The Good Place season 2 finale and saw an awful lot of Eleanor Shelstrop in Phil Connors. I’d be curious if Mike Schur is as big a fan of this movie as I am.
I also saw some discomfiting #metoo moments in the first romantic scene between Phil and Rita, but thankfully the movie doesn’t let it get too nasty and even more crucially, shows Phil learning from that mistake as he moves forward.
Lastly, I realized (or maybe remembered) that watching this movie every year is my own version of what Phil experiences, and I like to think I have learned how to become a better person each time another February 2 rolls around.
