Even though the title suggested a pre-code tale of seduction like Baby Face, you end up with a mature and frank depiction of marital troubles. You definitely get frustrated over how all the problems faced could have been easily solved with an open conversation between the two but that aspect adds to the stubbornness of both the characters. Borzage ends on an optimistic note that neatly wraps up the conflict without papering over the couples problems and  often conflicting views on life.
