Shawn Hall’s review published on Letterboxd:
Having grown up in Vegas, I was surprised to see Mayor Oscar Goodman in a small role and Dave Courvoisier playing himself as a newscaster. Beyond just the small touches, the film beautifully captures what Vegas represents in the American psyche, a magical oasis at first glance but under the surface breaming with seedy characters with the odds always stacked against you. The plot of the film isn’t as tight or intriguing as other Scorsese crime pictures but the great performances keep you entertained. Special bonus for the hypnotic opening credits sequence designed by the legendary Saul Bass.
