Shawn Hall’s review published on Letterboxd:
This melodramatic noir juggles a lot of different characters and plotlines that often get in the way of each other and the overall pacing of the film. There are a lot of great actors and some interesting story arcs but none of them mesh together quite well. The opening prologue was especially fun thanks to a short appearance from Judith Anderson. The ending especially is a letdown (thanks Production Code) but I've never going to pass up a chance to enjoy some Barbara Stanwyck and Kirk Douglas.
