Shawn Ko’s review published on Letterboxd:
Under the Silver Lake is quite a strange film and is one that is hard for me to articulate my thoughts on, or rather, even describe. Having reminiscent vibes to various films, Under the Silver Lake plays around with different genres and themes, which unfortunately makes this one of those cases where it (at times) becomes too complicated for its own good. However, as I am thinking more about this film as a whole, I think that was entirely the point. Mitchell’s intentions of making an incredibly layered film may not have been as finely woven as I would have hoped, but his main takeaways come across clearly. I see the vast amounts of criticism that Under the Silver Lake has garnered. But see the praise as well. I’m on the fence with my overall feelings on this one and will need a rewatch to cement my thoughts.
