I did not buy the parents lol they were so awkward. But I also didn’t hate all of this movie.
This film had potential to do what it hoped: make a 9/11 documentary that was different. But the first part focuses so much on the actual destruction, using cross cutting with news footage and the videos from the original “memory box” that undermines the personal testimonies and instead trauma bonds.
The weakness of the first part further undermines the second half, where a new box is built and many of the same people are interviewed in 2021. The same people…
1. Indigenous people have typical right of passages, too. We fall in love, have siblings, try to be more grown up than we are. Crazy, but true.
2. I’ve never seen another coming of age film where a huge crowd of racist protestors throw rocks through car windows, a blockade was happening because the government was breaking the law in order to build a golf course, & archive footage is shows all this is based in truth.
