John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

More John Wick. More of the same. And no complaints.

  • A Star Is Born

    A Star Is Born

I was primed and ready to take a dump on this film but instead had to scoff a slice of humble pie. Touching movie about the ups and downs of fame and fortune. Lady Gaga does a good job singing and acting, and Bradley Coopers performance is fantastic and heart wrenching. Definitely worth a watch.

    P. S. I can not get the main song out of my head. Credit where credit is due, Miss Gaga wrote a good tune.

  • Black Panther

    Black Panther

Fun comic book hero movie with the support characters being more interesting than the hero. Extra star goes towards Michael B Jordan. Best villain in years. Worth a watch

  • The Lost City of Z

    The Lost City of Z

Beautifully shot, awe inspiring, and rich with imagery . Some how this movie captures the in the innate beauty and danger of the jungles of amazon, and the mettle (or madness) required of the movies main character to explore such regions.

Regardless of how truthful the story is, the movie is joy to watch, with fantastic cinematography, stellar acting, and a simple yet immersive plot. Definitely worth a watch.

  • Tekkonkinkreet

Great animation and some really cool scenes. Story is a bit weird and cerebral but characters are interesting and Iikeable. Worth a watch

  • Shot Caller

    Shot Caller

Definitely worth a watch. Really interesting story about becoming institutionalised and the inescapable slippery slope that follows from "putting in some work". Some really cool scenes in the film and a great dramatic character arc overall. Jamie Lannister is a real G.

  • O.G.

Film is worth watching for Jeffrey Wright's performance, which is complex, impactful and touching. Although simple, the story is enough to keep you watching and has a subtle but compelling messages about rehabilitation, institutionalisation, and the impacts of incarceration. Big dose of realism without a mouth full of grit. Pretty good stuff.

  • The Favourite

    The Favourite

Great movie. Some how combines jarring music, odd camera angles (with loads of fisheye) , black humour, and weird characters, quirky dialogue and period drama...into a good movie. Not sure why this nightmare concoctions works so well, but the stellar acting definitely plays a part. Although it's meant to be comedy I found the film sad and strangely touching. Enjoyed the portrayal of a bizarre but sincere romance the most. Definitely worth a watch.
