Dan J. Greaves’s review published on Letterboxd:
An exceptional horror film from Brit horror/thriller director Johannes Roberts that took me by surprise. I was not expecting much from it. Far more brutal and a lot nastier than I was anticipating, it reminded me of Alexandre Aja’s The Hills Have Eyes at points.....and the end tribute to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre made me giggle.
The original was an example of the tired home invasion horror film craze that was around a decade ago....This is an all out slasher film that unashamedly jumps on the current 1980’s theme nostalgia bandwagon....which I love to be honest, especially the songs.
All the cast are great, especially Christina Hendricks who i think is superb in everything.
I highly recommend it.
