Letterboxd — Your life in film

A wonderfully realized omniscient view of a doomed crusade. From the opening voiceover, it’s like we’re already positioned over a graveyard, just waiting to see where things go wrong. They tried so hard, and got so far…but in the end, it didn’t even matter. And that’s why this ending gives me a stomach ache every time. 
 
“Johnny, you’ve got to run!”
“…yeah…what’s the difference.” 
 
Schemes! Don’t try em! And if you can’t help yourself, then stop bragging about how rich you’re going to be!

Who let a movie this serious be this funny without diminishing the gravity of the situation

aubrey plaza’s performance in this has been so acclaimed since this premiered at sundance that i was nervous it wouldn’t meet my high expectations, but it was somehow better than i expected. a career defining moment and i am so excited to see what else she does next with her production company

There’s a lot going for it, including gorgeous, cozy Northwestern cinematography, but it doesn’t feature the indelible Karen Black’s Rayette nor her leopard coat enough.

Jeremy Sisto's character does not fall in love with May after she serves him Gatorade in a wine glass, what a completely fucking unrelatable character.

great mix of process and thriller stuff with an a+ aubrey plaza performance at its center that also features a single scene of gina gershon being a hot, evil girlboss. 10 stars.
