Alex Garland: We live in Society
    -or-
Men will literally write Men before going to therapy.

This should be as divisive as Mother! (which I think is better, tbh) but maybe it delivers enough body horror to appease the more niche audience that will pay $5/month for early access to A24 tote bags and basketball shorts.

The resolution of Men is inventive. And its thesis—that men will blame a woman for every bad decision that that man makes—is sound. I…

My aunt used to watch An American in Paris.

In these dark times, it's important to sit back and enjoy the enduring power of Gene Kelly's absolute dumptruck ass. Four stars!

Boooooooo….while Rebecca Hall carried this entire movie, her acting skills don’t make up for this goofy ass plot. I was right there w the movie during the first hour, I was digging the slow uncovering of just who Owen rly was and what he did when his wife wasn’t around. But the big reveal was so silly, I could not take the movie seriously after that. Sorry. Lol

equally frustrating as it is admirable on a narrative and thematic level but Rebecca Hall’s performance and the stellar imagery elevate it even further from succumbing to its faults. Also features the best jump scare I’ve seen since Hereditary.

The Night House has some intriguing things going for it. It builds great tension leading up to its handful of jump scares and disorienting turns. It’s slick but not without some bramble. It’s anchored by a genuinely fascinating Rebecca Hall performance full of nerves and bitterness due to the character’s journey through fresh grief as a widow. Dig the sequence with the broken mirror in the bathroom. But the directions I was thinking it was going in — doppelgängers? parallel…
