  I can’t rate this movie. Nor can I like it as a whole. 

  Let’s start. Every aspect of filmmaking? Undeniably epic. Set-pieces unlike anything we’ve seen before. Well-paced. Two movie stars at the top of their game shredding every scene they’re in. Wonderful thematic reasonance between their camaraderie. Isolated story-wise it’s a super interesting screenplay. all of this works!

  for all it’s hypocrisy intact, I am grateful that movie star culture is still alive and well. There is a singular joy in exclusively and collectively watching a charismatic performer on a big screen create something that is soon to be iconic cultural lexicon. And so every time a new one of these come along, it’s often more culturally festive than the festival it attaches itself to, and I anticipate it dearly, no matter what rote, preachy plot I’m subjected…
