I was very disappointed with this film. The directing doesn't guide the viewer in any way through the relationship. It feels disconncted and doesn't show the depth of the proximity and passion between Elio and Oliver. The "Call Me By Your Name" fell flat given the lack of buildup.
This is a favorite of mine.
The secluded setting, the paranoia, the weight of religion, the distrust of your own family and oh the lies and lies and lies that break us apart. The natural lighting just enhances this sickness all too well. It's a story about breaking free and i'm here for it
