"It's a metaphor."
Funny, thrilling, topical, and skillful, 'Parasite' matched all of the well-earned hype. The pacing doesn't let up, and I was shocked how fast the film felt for being 2+ hours. Good use of space, especially in the house. It felt similar to the suburban neighbor horrors from the 90s without any of the real camp factor.
I saw the director do a Q+A, and I guess in Korea they can afford to have much larger shoots (this was ~70 days). The main house was built on a set in levels then torn down, and the first basement apartment was actually built in a giant swimming pool along with the rest of the city corner.
