Sidney Shear’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Everybody's thought of deserting at least once."
Trigtinant truly has been in some legendary flicks from 'Z' to 'The Great Silence' and this one lives up mostly to its reputation. The colours really pop in this one and it was no real surprise that the same DP shot 'Dick Tracy' & 'The Bird with the Crystal Plumage'. The gliding camera and floating frames do help the slow pacing of the plot itself.
It shows the disillusionment of politics and the romances caught up in its upheaval.
I had no idea that Bertolucci died today until I had 30 minutes left in the film!
