Gremlins 2: The New Batch ★★★★½

This has aged.....weirdly, mostly because it tackles Trump and his status as a successful capitalist and not a dirtbag abuser who managed to weasel his way into the racist, worthless fabric of America. So, when "Trump" changes into a sympathetic figure and leads the way towards a less (admittedly, not much less) objectified structure of power and career, it rings a strange tune. The technical side of things, on the other hand, still astonishes. Just imagine what practical effects would be like now if they remained the only SFX art form. This came out in 1990 and the Gremlins look as tactile, expressive, and distinct as ever. Joe Dante creates a near-masterpiece around the creatures, with an constant swarm of chaos enabling a domino effect in which each scene spirals towards a individual climax of audacity.
