SimonR’s review published on Letterboxd:
good performances from Dougray Scott, Saffron Burrows and Lauren Jackson can't quite lift this film above tepid. It's interesting in an intellectual world building backstory kind of a way, but that doesn't replace an audience's need for emotional immediacy and jeopardy. Essentially this is an ideas film, and all the plot developments feel like introduced devices rather than the effects of character choices. Even the ending reflects more of a bohemian 'oh well' melancholy than a real sense of emotional journey. Good production design from Phil Ivey (District 9, Elysium) but the visual fx are disappointing.
