Simon Ramshaw’s review published on Letterboxd:
Oh yes...this is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Let's just review some of the things I love about it:
1. The fact that this may seem like a remake from the title, but has pretty much no relevance whatsoever to the original.
2. Christoph Waltz...his line delivery is the best in the world (looks like he's perfecting it in Django Unchained!)
3. The spaghetti western under-tones. It's possibly the first WW2 western ever, and hopefully the last.
4. The size of Brad Pitt's bowie knife.
5. Michael Fassbender's terrible mistake in the bar.
6. Mike Myer's cameo.
7. Enzo G. Castellari's cameo.
8. The name of chapter 5 (Revenge of the Giant Face).
9. Tarantino's cameo as 'First scalped Nazi'.
10. It's criminally cool self-indulgence.
11. The angry Nazis.
12. Eli Roth's entrance.
13. David Bowie's music in 1944.
14. THAT opening scene (the most tense thing I've EVER seen).
15. "THAT'S A BEE-NGO!"
16. The scar on Brad Pitt's neck.
17. Brad Pitt's accent.
18. Shosanna's inner bad-ass.
19. The longest scene Tarantino's ever put together: La Louisianne.
20. The final head-carving.
21. The final shot.
22. The final line.
23. The fact that Hitler gets machine-gunned-
24. -And shot in the face-
25. -Repeatedly-
26. -By Eli Roth-
27. -In a cinema-
28. -In Paris-
29. -In 1944.
It doesn't make sense. It's absolutely mental. It's punishingly long. It's...well, it's Inglourious Basterds.
