If you like it when soldiers are sobbing every ten minutes then this film is for you. Hyper stylized deaths and the mourning of them doesn't make good cinema. Throw in some cheesy metaphor in the ending to lure forward the last tears from your eyes and you'll have a night to remember. Any person out there who like their American soldiers to talk like they been directed by a fork, this is your lucky day.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I guess this opinion is very personal but I felt that the movie was extremely fantastical (when speaking about genre) and that didn’t really speak to me. At times the comedy of the film was great (mostly the one without dialogue).

But come on, this movie is obviously siding with the HK protesters against CCP political supremacy in Hong Kong. The water theme (Be Water) and the small village fighting against the soul-eater is obviously an allegory for that.

    Xuan Zang

Huang Xiaoming adds very little to a complex and deep portrayal of famous 7th century monk Xuan Zang. The scenery is at times very beautiful but the visual effects is very disappointing. What could be a long odyssey of interesting encounters instead becomes a two hour long lecture in buddhist vocabulary and thought. But if one enjoys Huang Xiaomings constipated look of deep thought and 5-cent philosophy this is the film to watch.

    Never Say Die

A very superficial story about a man and a woman who switches body and who learns a lot by this experience. Very predictable but some scenes were incredibly funny.
