Amir Syarif Siregar’s review published on Letterboxd:
Teddy Soeriaatmadja's first stab at horror relies on atmosphere and suspense rather than gore and jump-scares. Unfortunately, 'Affliction' ends up totally bland. The plot is pretty straightforward but the tone of the film is all over the place; there are moments where you really aren't sure if you're supposed to feel emotional or scared – so you end up doing neither. This film manages to make you feel nothing. Pretty disappointing because most of the performances are good.
