With his irresistible charms and dashingly handsome looks, Zac Efron put on one of his best (if not the best) performances to date as a serial killer who loved the spotlight. The movie, however, often feels like a pointless piece. Sure ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ has some interesting ideas about how little we know the people we love, and about the power of a celebrity cult status. But its misguided tone and an abrupt change of focus halfway through the film are hard to overlook. Messy.
