    My Bloody Valentine

The most interesting thing here is the idea of multiple personalities existing, and even then it’s an idea that is far better executed in many other horror films.

Even by horror standards the cinematography and lighting of this film are atrocious, looking much more like a CW show or a SyFy movie than something a studio put any form of money into. The CG is distractingly bad and ruins any and every interesting kill or effect that it comes around,…

  • UHF

A spoof comedy that doesn’t overly rely on “you remember that this thing exists?” Some of the jokes don’t quite land but the ones that do are so ridiculous and fun and come so consistently that you usually don’t have time to remember the bad ones.

    The Irishman

The performances and production design are wonderful through the whole film, but certainly not worth the three and a half hour run time. Truly the first three hours are nothing new for Scorsese, if you’ve seen most of his films you’ve seen this one. But what makes this film interesting are the last twenty minutes. Beyond that this is a decent Scorsese film but certainly nothing I would put near his finer works.

    The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse fits in perfectly amongst the upper echelon of A24’s finest.

A true powerhouse of a film that has some of the best cinematography of the year and two of the best performances I’ve ever seen from both Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson, the film is a must see.

The film is very much a character study of the two lighthouse keepers, and if you’re looking for a true delve into madness that will keep you glued to the screen for the entirety, this film is at the top of my recommendations.
