This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
As a family film, this is a fun and harmless watch. I think it fared a little better breaking away from its source material than the Penguins of Madagascar did, but still fell short of its predecessors. A solid intro, charting the Minions through history, eventually gave way to the main story involving a boring, derivative villain. There was enough sight gags and mischief, however, to keep things afloat to the point that I'd give this an overall good rating.
