Rob’s review published on Letterboxd:
What? Two documentaries with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score that live up to that hype in one week? But my birthday was last month! I loved this movie. It told everything that it needed it to in an appealing way. It's interesting that they were able to interview Aretha Franklin before her death and then showed footage of her memorial service at the Apollo. I hope this goes up on HBO Now soon because I want to start recommending this to everyone.
If I had to criticize something about this I would have rather seen it presented chronologically. The present day content could have still broken up the action. This is just a personal preference though and the way the movie is currently edited makes sense. A great documentary!
