    Gotta save Krispy Kreme

This movie was pretty great before the whole bad CGIFEST. Yet despite how shitty Goldar looks and the iffy Zords (while in action), I had a lot of fun. Yes the end was super rushed, but the hour and forty mins beforehand were very good. So even though we barely got the Power Rangers in their suits before jumping into Zords, I say so what.

In the end, better character development than a lot of recent ensemble films, fan service, and a nice post-credits tease make for a truly enjoyable experience.

    Song to Song

This film is a state of trance, an experience and a good one, but there's not nearly enough substance to back it. So while the cinematography is beautiful, you get bored when that's about all there is going for it. And I found myself checking my watch about an hour before the film was over.

Rooney Mara's fantastic though, if she was in every scene I'd probably have rated this higher.

Wes Anderson never fails to wow us in regards to framing and composition of shots, but with The Grand Budapest Hotel he achieves far more. The comedic timing and eccentricity of the film truly put this one over the top, alongside a story within a story within a story within a story that's just wonderfully extravagant. The playing with aspect ratios is also quite unique and appreciated.
