Skylar Travis’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve been wanting to watch this for years. It’s quite amazing. Sam Raimi’s filmography is very prolific. There is a bit of everything in there. But A Simple Plan is probably his most mature film. At times, it seems like it was directed by someone else, as it doesn’t have some of Raimi’s trademarks. This is a first rate thriller that ranks among one of the best of the genre. It’s incredibly tense, and it has great performances from everyone, especially Billy Bob Thornton. And seriously, has there ever been an actor more loved than Bill Paxton? I wish he was still around. He always had such a great screen presence. Even though his performance comes off as a bit overdramatic at times, the sense of paranoia he brings to his role is outstanding. A great film.
