The best Coen Brothers movie, hands down. Or feet up?
No, but really. Amiably aimless, threaded with phenomenal acting. The meta nature of this approach creates a sense of authenticity, which is ironic for the situation. I did find myself wondering about a third of the way in, and not necessarily in the good way. But realizing the attempt, I was able to sit back and enjoy the moments more. Some historical context goes a long way; it makes oddities feel relevant and the ending more understandable. But oof, that ending title really just ties it up for you, doesn’t it? It truly was a time in Hollywood.
I think high Brad Pitt is my favorite Brad Pitt.
