Some of the humour can be irritating (bagel) and some the philosophy feels slightly immature. But as an emotional work, and one of pure creativity, it is nothing but a triumph.

One of the best things about Kazuo Ishiguro's book is the narration throughout by Stevens. It's absent here, but Hopkins's extraordinary performance makes up for this, he has a whole universe on his face. I also found the changed ending and the unfitting music an issue, yet overall this a wonderful adaption, by focusing on the romantic angle, Ivory and Jhabvala created a hugely emotional watch, the crying scene in particular is a real heartbreaker.

An empathetic tale of loneliness and belonging, turning into something more ugly and terrifying. Heartbreakingly real.

Definitely want to see the TV sequels now

Chaotic, frustrating, absolutely deranged and strangely magnificent. It's like Christopher Nolan heard the criticisms of his work (lack of interesting characters, cold emotion) and fully embraced them.
Slams you head first into a nightmarish and abrasive world of extreme spying and disorienting action. While I'm not the hugest fan of Nolan, I love Memento but don't care for Inception or The Dark Knight, this really felt like nothing else.
