Matt Slocum’s review published on Letterboxd:
"You will never do anything as hard as staring someone straight in the eye and telling the truth."
There are several scenes in A Most Violent Year where a scintillating Oscar Isaac absolutely lights up the screen. He's just so, so impressive. That's not to take away from the supremely talented supporting cast of Jessica Chastain, Albert Brooks and David Oyelowo because they are also quite excellent, but this is Oscar Isaac's movie.
With things like this, Inside Llewyn Davis and Ex Machina on his resume, not to mention his upcoming roles in Star Wars and X-Men, it looks like his popularity is about to explode. And I couldn't be more excited for it.
