Good to see Bay going back to what he does best - non-Transformer action movies.
All the actors give it their all, but are often hindered by the sometimes clunky dialogue/script.
But Bay brings the usual Bayhem and proves once again he is a master at choreographing action. And I was surprised to see that this is a more emotionally mature film than usual for Bay and he actually doesn’t objectify women this go around. Is Bay getting more sentimental in his old age…? :)
First time watch. One of the funniest screwball comedies ever. Can’t believe it took me so long to see this.
Call me crazy, but I enjoyed the heck out of this. It knows exactly what it wants to be - a batsh*t crazy midnight B-movie action film - and delivers just that. I get why some people might hate it, but it scratched the itch for this action movie junkie. I also admire Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) for taking risks in his career with movies like this and Swiss Army Man and not playing it safe after Potter. Finally, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not and Mayhem) is badass and awesome as always. Put this lady in more movies! Bigger movies!
The first two-thirds were really working for me. The film is well shot. The acting is good. The score/soundtrack has a lot of interesting choices of music in both ironic and effective ways. But once the last third of the movie plays out, the movie totally fell apart for me.
