The film making strategy goes wrong for so many recent directors, yet PTA has so much skill and talent in 'showing not telling' that it pays off immensely. There is so much trust in the audience's intelligence embedded within the interlocking style and it's absolutely lovely to behold. It's unusual to witness as someone accustomed to superheroes nowadays.
And yet the ending credits refrain in Magnolia 'somebody save me' never happens in real life. How can we forgive?…
