    Total Recall

This is definitely one of the better Schwarzenegger movies in my opinion. It has some of the best set design and practical work I’ve ever seen. I’m wondering how much it cost (in money and time) to construct all of it because that shit was impressive. I love all the twists and turns the film takes to create a spicier experience. Overall, I really liked this one.

  • Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

    Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

What the hell was I thinking only giving this a 9/10 all those years?! Everything about this movie rocks in the best way possible. It has the most unique style and personality I’ve seen in any film. I get absolutely HYPED for every kick ass fight scene. The music slaps so hard. It is fucking hilarious and super quotable.

You punched me in the boob!

(Btw the scene where they go to Peace A Pizza breaks my heart every time I see it cuz they’re pretty much gone now where I live. I miss 2010 😢)

  • Paddington 2

    Paddington 2

    I know, I know, I’m a horrible bastard.

How dare I not give Paddington 2 the five stars it deserves?! Well, let me say that this does not mean this film is any worse by any means.

Paddington 2 is an incredibly entertaining, incredibly funny, and very charming follow up to the first. It works beautifully as a detective story, a prison story, and an adventure story. Every piece of the story is tied together and all pays off at some point in…

  • The Secret of Kells

    The Secret of Kells

This might be one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

This film has some of the most outstanding animation I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. The Celtic aesthetic gives it such a unique personality and combined with other styles like watercolor, symmetries, and even Irish Catholic glass staining makes it feel even more unique. Even without the plot, the film is an amazing visual and auditory experience and is worth seeing just for that aspect.

    The music is mesmerizing;…

  • Animal House

    Animal House

One of the quintessential guy movies. Saw this at the Colonial Theatre and definitely enjoyed it more than the two previous times I’ve seen it. This film’s comedy is balanced throughout the entire runtime, whereas there are multiple classic memorable scenes within every act rather than all the funny parts happening at one section of the film. Belushi absolutely steals the show.

  • Rise of the Guardians

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

To start off, this is such an original premise that we see once in a blue moon and it’s executed so well. All the guardians that children believe in that are thought to be nothing but fairy tales form a team to fight against fear itself and restore children’s faith that they exist. You could say that the story of multiple characters with unique abilities coming together has been done before, what with The Avengers coming…

Your father was an emotional moron, but he isn’t evil.

This film has such a cozy feel to it. The use of colors, color mixing, the shots, and the abundance of rainy days make the film feel almost like an interactive painting. Maybe some part of it is tied to the elite rich shit, but I found the aesthetic made it a very pleasant viewing experience.

The story is decently paced and relatively easy to follow, but it really doesn’t…

  • The Tatami Galaxy

    The Tatami Galaxy

Straight fucking masterpiece. I might actually like it more than Night Is Short, but I have to watch that again to be sure.

The animation: gorgeous. The characters: wonderfully charming. The introspective story and all-around execution: amazing, fits together perfectly, and hopefully will be even better on rewatch. The score/soundtrack: SLAPS 👏

    Akashi: best girl.

I heard this story about a fish. He swims up to this older fish and says, "I'm trying to find this thing they call the ocean." "The ocean?" says the older fish. "That's what you're in right now." "This?" says the young fish. "This is water. I want the ocean.
