When I was a child I used to have horrible nightmares every single night. And when I say every single night I truly mean every night. It would be a miracle if I didn't wake up in the middle of the night dripping in sweat and yelling for my mother's embrace. I can't say for certain but, I probably had an undiagnosed sleeping disorder or something.

Who knows... I had a lot of things wrong with me when I was…

    Hiroshima Mon Amour

    ★★★★★

I hesitate to box this film into the romance genre even if it's tagged and marketed as one. The romance feels so secondary to me. Hiroshima Mon Amour is about so much more than just a relationship. Love and all of its convolution is merely a vehicle for Resnais and the screenwriter Duras to communicate ideas. Ideas ranging from: love, war, trauma, dissociation, and the sheer weight associated with merely being alive. HMA demands the audience to be reflective of…

    Tripping With Caveh

    ★★★½

Caveh is quite the enigma. I gain new insight into his essence with every project I watch. Tripping With Caveh was an attempt at spoofing Fishing With John, but instead of fishing with celebrities, he would "trip" with them. This attempt at a would-be reoccurring segment only fledged out a mere episode with Will Oldham.

As a show and spoof... this fails quite hard. Caveh and Will's interactions are awkward and borderline confrontational. The conversations had are mildly thought-provoking, but…

    Midsommar

    ★★★★½

Midsommar is a film that radiates so much happiness.

Since, Midsommar has so much chaos, suffering, and gore; I'll probably get some funny looks for even considering it having a positive tone. But, at its core, this is a film about coping with extreme loss, dealing with shit relationships, and finding meaning in existing.

Florence Pugh does a great job illustrating how much anxiety and despair Danni has built up during this whole ordeal with such an…

    The Night Eats the World

    ★★★½

Not your typical murder fest zombie movie. The story mainly focuses on the mental health aspects of being alone in a post-apocalyptic world so getting invested in the story took a bit longer than I would normally like but once you start to care for the main character Sam, you don't mind watching him do boring day to day things. The best way to summarize this movie is a slice-of-life zombie flick that has an emphasis on mental health.
