Better-than-average 70's blaxploitation/anti-buddy cop movie. It does lay on the race relations aspect a bit thick, and by the time the film gets to the final gratuitously violent GRITTY SEVENTIES SHOOTOUT it feels somewhat redundant. Great score, though, and Yaphet Kotto gets some practice for his "Homicide" role. Loved the pimp outfits.
