• Freaky

    Freaky

    ★★★★

I love campy slashers so much and Freaky did not disappoint.

The premise is super fun and they executed it very well. Vince Vaughn was ridiculously good. I was sort if in a state of shock because I could not believe he was giving the performance he was. There are some great kills with lots of blood too. This movie is pretty damn funny too (specifically Vaughn), but it also had some really cringe moments. I wasn't the biggest fan…

  • Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

    Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

    ★★★★

Lmao holy shit. Not as funny as the OG, but Borat 2 is even more outrageous if you can believe that. Kind of can't believe this was made and released, but so glad it was. I big laughed many, many times.

The more I reminisce on this Moviefilm, the more I like it. There were truly so many hilarious moments I can’t stop thinking about.

  • Hubie Halloween

    Hubie Halloween

    ★★★

I liked this? Yeah, I actually liked this.

Adam Sander has a Swiss Army thermos and at one point his mother was wearing a “Muff Diver” t-shirt. What more could you want? I genuinely got a decent amount of chuckles out of Hubie Halloween. Honestly, this is my favorite non-serious Sandler role in a LONG time!

In a weird way this movie reminded me how much I love Halloween. I’ve been working a lot recently and this movie just got me back into the Halloween spirit.

  • The Devil All the Time

    The Devil All the Time

    ★★★★

Gosh damn son. That was heavy handed; didn’t expect that at all. The Devil All the Time is essentially a gothic backwoods hill billy drama horror film. A few weeks ago we got the feel good movie of the year in Bill & Ted Face the Music and now we’ve got this. Sheesh.

Going in I had heard some comparisons of No Country for Old Men and The Place Beyond the Pines and I thought to myself “yeah right”. After watching, the…

  • Mulan

    Mulan

    ★★½

No songs and no musical numbers? It's a big no from me.

Disney really made a live action remake of Mulan without any of the iconic songs from the original animated film. I consider that a crime.

    No Honor To Us All
No I'll Make A Man Out Of You
No A Girl Worth Fighting For
    No Reflection

I will say this movie looks pretty amazing. Loved the sets, costumes, production, etc. Some of the fighting sequences are decent. Editing is fairly choppy. Did I already mention there are no song and dance numbers?

  • I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    ★★★★½

I'm so close to calling I'm Thinking of Ending Things as masterpiece.

Is there a better film writer out there than Charlie Kaufman? My man's filmography is insane. Banger after banger after banger. Charlie Kaufman has been blowing my mind and impressing me since I first got into film. Being John Malkovich was one of the first movies I watched when I began to find my passion for film and it remains one of my favorite movies to this day.…

  • Tenet

    Tenet

    ★★★★

me trying to figure this movie out

Christopher Nolan essentially made his own James Bond movie and I’m here for it.

Even though this is a lesser Nolan for me, I still thought it was really damn good. I’m super confused. This is easily Nolan’s most ambitious and complex from to date. I’ll probably watch hours of theory videos on YouTube lol. Maybe after a few more viewings and some dissecting, this will rise in the ranks. Nonetheless, I’m going to be thinking about this A LOT over the next few days.

  • Bill & Ted Face the Music

Bill & Ted Face the Music

    ★★★★

The movie we all need right now.

I fuckin love these guys man.

I felt most excellent during the entirety. It made me big dumb goofy smile a lot. It's not perfect and it's not the best movie, but it's such a delightful movie.

Also, Alex Winter legitimately crushes it out of the park. It's like he never lost a beat.

    Da 5 Bloods

    ★★★★½

Da 5 Bloods >>> The Irishman

I found this necessary to point out because both films contain cool old dudes.

I have not yet seen all of Spike Lee’s filmography. But up to this point Da 5 Bloods has to be my favorite of his so far.

  • Man on the Moon

    Man on the Moon

    ★★★★½

Going into this I didn't expect this to contain one of the best performances I have ever seen in film. Hats off to you, Mr. Carrey. Today was actually the first day I had even heard of this film and I'm so glad I decided to watch it almost immediately after hearing about it for th first time.

    Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

  • Capone

    Capone

    ★★★

Almost exactly 2 years ago I saw a movie that I was not able to give a rating to. That movie was Gotti. To this day it's the only movie I've seen that I haven't given a rating to. Is history here to repeat itself with Capone?

I don't know what it is with gangster movies, but we've got another one that left me pretty speechless. Once again, I asked myself "what the fuck did I just watch"? I couldn't…

    "Aim for the bushes"

^ one of the funniest scenes of all-time. I was still chuckling a good 10 minutes afterwords.
