Harry Potter is a wizard! I’ve decided to binge the Harry Potter movies while on quarantine for two weeks. I began with the one that started it all (obviously). This movie is so nostalgic to me. The story, the setting, the MUSIC! Chris Columbus creates a perfect beginning for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This movie captures the feel of being a witch or a wizard while incorporating a good set up for Harry’s story throughout the series of films to come. This movie is a classic and very hard to pass up. One of the main reasons why it’s one of my favorite HP movies is because of the score (is this a surprise to anyone at this point?). John Williams creates a mischievous, victorious, and wonderful score that emphasizes the wizarding theme - and it works perfectly. He sets the theme for the movies to come, and even though there’s a composer change throughout the series, the main theme is kept for all the films. Overall excellent setup, and first movie time a brilliant and iconic series of movies.
