Ritual

Ritual ★★★½

Ritual is an intrinsically Murakami-Esque, dashingly absurdist, unrelentingly post-modernist piece that simultaneously had me speechless, and nauseated. At points, I felt like this film showed me just how GOOD cinema can be, and at others, I felt like it was just too self-indulgent for its own good. At some points, I loved it immensely and at others, I was sick of it. It was like emotional whiplash. Overall, I really appreciated it and even though I didn't love it the way I thought I would at points in the film, I still drew a lot from the experience.
