Robert Dabi’s review published on Letterboxd:
The CGI is fantastic, but still obvious. For some characters it works better than for others.. for example for King Louie or Shere Khan the renderings look very good and make them appear menacing, while Kaa or the Wolves look quite "uncanny valley".
Concept-wise, there some disfunction between 1.) trying to make the animals and environments look super-real, while 2.) putting them into a fairytale story and let them talk and sing. Might have been better to make this a CGI-only film with a bit more comic-like characters. Like it is now, I could never really dive into the world because of the uncanny valley effect.
Btw, the kid didn't match my mental image of Mowgli, and he can't act that well either (sorry pal).
