Apologies for the blunt title - I want to compile a list of films with older (55+) leads that capture full lives and fun to be had.
People can die (...uhm...) and there can be sad notes, but I'm looking for films that paint three-dimensional pictures of their older leads, instead of making them one-dimensional and cardboard "Mum" or "Dad" characters (or worse, "Gramps" and "Gramma"). I want films to capture the complexities of "old age", preferably with an optimistic twist.
Films like Haneke's 'Amour' are too depressing for what I'm looking for in this list, though, but suggestions are very welcome!
