Kind of reminds me of Michael Mann’s Miami Vice but in the opposite direction - while that film was sensation defined by emotion, visuals, and mood, this was sensation defined by plot, movement, and an exceptional lack of emotion. Definitely not among Nolan’s best - Inception and Interstellar outstrip it for me, at least for now - but it’s at least on the level of Dark Knight Rises - aka, still one of the better films I’ve ever seen, to understate it. Probably will play better on the rewatch, now that I understand the basic mechanics of the plot, so ask me again sometime next week.
