Feels like eating a big boiled carrot with no seasoning. A lot of pausings in between dialogues because of how bitter and embarrassing and real Mavis Gary is. I just had to process one chunk before putting another into my mouth. Charlize Theron is golden. But overall, it's bland. What does the film want to say? Not that it's unclear, it's just not so interesting that I want to find out further.
