Spencer Kain’s review published on Letterboxd:
I had really high expectations for this and it unfortunately did not live up to them. It’s indeed a slow burn that relies on atmosphere and its sense of dread instead of abrasive scares, but there are still some creepy scenes. I will say that it gets points for some really gory scenes. Gareth Evans is a talented director and he’s able to craft a mostly effective gothic mystery even if it gets caught up in its own (sometimes convoluted) story sometimes.
