Really not nearly as bad as I was expecting, but nothing great, either. It’s perfectly average. The actual scenes in the escape rooms were pretty cool I won’t lie and surprisingly quite impressive and well put together. Thankfully the movie takes place mostly in the escape rooms because any other scenes outside of them was just boring. There’s only so much story you can have centered around a movie completely about an escape room, but for the most part it was alright albeit stretched a little too thin for its own good. There’s enough palpable tension to get you through the end to not totally be annoyed at it’s pre-assumed awfulness and thankfully it often rises above that to deliver a fine-enough horror/thriller hybrid that doesn’t demand too much nor expects it.
