Summer of 84 ★★★

The B-movie answer to Stephen King, Brian De Palma and Stranger Things. Unfortunately, it’s all a little too formulaic and predictable. It also relies way too much on nostalgia without really trying to carve an identity of its own. There’s some effectively creepy scenes and a good sense of mounting dread, but it’s not scary, funny or intelligent enough to stand out on its own. Not awful by any means but it could have been way better.
