Don’t see a lot of good satires these days, and this one was very solid.
Lot more of a family drama and less of a comedy than I expected. Liked the exploration of black stories in media, and there’s some seriously hilarious moments here. Manages to get some solid emotion in too.
Could’ve balanced the satire a bit better with the emotion, in my opinion. Still, a really enjoyable watch.
Literally biblical and mythical storytelling. Can see this movie being a landmark moment in fantasy/sci-fi cinema history much in the way LOTR or Star Wars was. Denis Villeneuve is now a GOAT director who continues his absolute heater.
Deconstructs the idea of a “chosen one” narrative as something that’s honestly kind of terrifying and cautionary while also exploring the dark side of religion, fanaticism, and war. There is so many ideas and images that reminded me of wars and religious…
An endlessly entertaining and satisfying revenge story. Rewatched this plenty of times and it never gets old. It’s bloody, hilarious, and so cool. It’s a little too long, but it’s just so stylishly made that I never really care.
