The Apartment ★★★★

When you separate the misogyny of the time that is not right then and not right now, you can enjoy Wilder’s light-hearted wit as he deals with heavier themes such as suicide and infidelity, expressing it thru his excellent use of storytelling, beautiful lit and framed cinematography, and solid performances from Jack Lemon and Shirley McLain, who play out their tragedies with elegance and grace, culminating in an ending that only a couple years later gives way in similarity with the Graduate.
